In order to study your country and really develop an understanding of what it is like to belong to your country. You are being asked to examine the lives and backgrounds of people who are generally considered to be geniuses in their areas of expertise. You need to identify people from your country who have shown outstanding success. They may be people who have overcome adversity or succeeded beyond expectation. They may be people who are considered to be innovators in their country. Not every country is going to have an Albert Einstein or a Jane Goodall, however, they will have their own stars. As well as identifying who these people are your job is to look for anything these individuals have in common.
Is it possible that all of them have a common characteristic? Is academic or intellectual giftedness enough? Or, could there be something about their education that was similar? Why are these people special?
Your job is to examine the lives and personalities of admirable people in a variety of fields. Look for anything that these people might have in common.
They may have something similar that happened in childhood. Or, perhaps they each had a special person influence them. It's also possible that there is something about their personalities that makes them successful.
Is there a "key" to their success? Or, do you believe that they have nothing in common?
You will post a presentation on your group wiki for everyone else to see. They will be looking to see if they have found similar things to them. They will be wondering what characteristics you discovered.
Your group will need to be prepared to talk to the class, respond to questions on the blog and defend your findings with specific examples from the lives of the people you've studied.
Part 1
You need to do some individual research on this to find out who is famous from your country.
Some of your countries are really small and you may not have anyone too famous but don't right them off too quickly!
Each group needs to cover the following areas and you may use a variety of your countries to do it.
